Last Saturday, Dave and I “scootered” up to the Oceanside Pier to see the Nissan Supergirl surf competition. I didn’t realize how big the event was going to be. We found out it is the largest female surfing event in the world.
Samantha Sibley, age 17, won this year. She is a local - San Clemente girl. Her win moved her from 52nd in the world to 6th place! Go Samantha! They are calling her the Cinderella Girl!

Bethany Hamilton was there. She lost her arm in a shark attack when she was 13 years old. She has continued to surf and inspire others. Bethany and 5 other women competed in an adaptive surf heat. We missed it unfortunately. Read about the 6 women who competed in the adaptive surf. Their stories are amazing!
Stay tuned - because tomorrow is the US Open of Surfing in our old HB!
